Let’s start the research!
We are thrilled to announce that Byblios project has started the participatory research!
Led by Prof. Veraldi from the University G. D’annunzio from Italy, the Consortium has started creating the guidelines for the focus groups. We will interview 16 people in each country involved in the project and will investigate:
1. Future of Libraries: Which areas of development for libraries? This point highlights the importance of acquiring new skills, of developing career planning services for young people, and focuses on the role of libraries as inclusive learning spaces.
2. Accessibility and Inclusion in Libraries: Participants will be asked to share practices and examples on improving accessibility and inclusion within libraries for both staff and users, including architectural modifications, digital accessibility, and diversity training.
3. Thoughts on Hiring Library Staff with Disabilities or other Fragilities: Participants will be asked to share their perspectives on hiring library staff with disabilities or other mental and physical weaknesses, discussing the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
4. Concerns and Challenges in Integration: Participants will be asked to raise specific concerns and challenges related to hiring staff with disabilities or other fragilities, including accommodation needs, training requirements, and potential biases
5. Support Strategies: The group will brainstorm strategies and resources that could support the integration of staff with disabilities or other weaknesses, such as accessibility training, mentorship programs, and adaptive technology.
6. Previous Experience with People with Disabilities or other Fragilities: Participants will discuss their past experiences working with people with disabilities or other mental and physical weaknesses in other contexts and share their thoughts and feelings about these experiences.
7. Improving User Experience: They will be asked to reflect on how hiring staff with disabilities can enhance the overall experience of library users by promoting inclusivity, empathy, and understanding.
We can’t wait to collect the data and analyse the results of the research!
